ENCAENIA, a festival commemorating a dedication, in Greek Ta E'yKalvta (Kacvos, new), particularly used of the anniversary of the dedication of a church (see Dedication). The term is also used at the university of Oxford of the annual Commemoration, held in June, of founders and benefactors (see Oxford).
