EXOTIC (Gr. E Wtlkos, foreign, from SEw, outside), of foreign origin, or belonging to another country. The term is now used in the restricted sense of something not indigenous or native, and is mostly applied to plants introduced from foreign countries, which have not become acclimatized. Figuratively, "exotic" is used to convey the sense of something rare, delicate or extravagant.
