KUTENAI (Kutonaga), a group of North-American Indian tribes formingthe distinct stock of Kitunahan. Their former range was British Columbia, along the Kootenay lake and river. They were always friendly to the whites and noted for their honesty. In 1904 there were some S50 in British Columbia; and in 1908 there were 606 on the Flathead Agency, Montana.
