IPPOLITO ROSELLINI (1800-1843), Italian Egyptologist, was born at Pisa. He studied under Mezzofanti at Bologna, and in 1824 became professor of oriental languages at Pisa University. He is best known as the associate of J. F. Champollion (q.v.), whose studies he shared and whom he accompanied in his Egyptian explorations (1828).
