Description:
O*NET, the Occupational Information Network, is a comprehensive database of worker attributes and job characteristics. As the replacement for the
Dictionary of Occupational Titles
(DOT), O*NET will be the nation's primary source of occupational information.
It embodies a view that reflects the character of occupations (via job-oriented descriptors) and people (via worker-oriented descriptors). The Content Model also allows occupational information to be applied across jobs, sectors,or industries (cross-occupational descriptors) and within occupations (occupational-specific descriptors).
The O*NET 98 Viewer is a software product that allows access to the O*NET database and provides an interface for technical users. The database has been developed in .db file format using Borland's Paradox database software. The O*NET 98 database includes comprehensive information about occupations in the U. S. economy.
This CD-ROM also contains the entire
Dictionary of Occupational Titles (DOT) for Windows
, currently in wider use than O*Net.
