Protective Status for Nationals of Rwanda

The Attorney General has authorized under the Immigration and Nationality Act, that Temporary Protective Status, also known as TPS, be granted for nationals of Rwanda.

Any alien who is a national of Rwanda, or any alien having no nationality, who last resided in Rwanda and who has been present in the US since June 7, 1994, may apply for TPS within the registration period, which began on June 7, 1994 and ends on June 6, 1995.

Aliens who wish to apply for TPS, must file an application Form I-821, together with an application for Employment Authorization Form I-765, during the registration period which began June 7, 1994, and will remain in effect until June 6, 1995.

A fee of $50 will be charged for each application for TPS, Form I-821, and a fee of $70 for each application for Employment Authorization, Form I-765.

An alien who does not seek Employment Authorization, must, nevertheless, file a Form I-765, together with Form I-821 for information and identification purposes. But in such cases Form I-765 will be without fee. Application should be submitted to the INS district office having jurisdiction over your place of residence.
