![]() National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa, Ontario The National Gallery of Canada (French: Musee des beaux arts du Canada) in Ottawa, is housed in a glass and granite building with a great view of the Canadian Parliament buildings on Parliament Hill. Renowned for its exceptional collections, revered for its scholarship, and applauded for its unique ability to engage audiences of all ages and all levels of artistic knowledge, NGC was created in 1880, one of the oldest of Canada's national cultural institutions. The Canadian Museum of Contemporary Photography (CMCP, French: Musee canadien de la photographie contemporaine) was established as an affiliate of the National Gallery of Canada in 1985 to collect, interpret, and disseminate Canadian contemporary photography.
