The Academy of Athens (Greek: Ακαδημία Αθηνών), established in 1926, is the national academy of Greece, and the highest research establishment in the country.

The main building of the Academy is a neoclassical building in the centre of Athens that is part of an architectural "trilogy", designed in 1859 by the Danish architect Theophil Hansen, along with the main University of Athens building and the National Library building.

Construction began on 2 August 1859 and it was completed in 1885, at a high cost, which was born by the diplomat and philanthropist Simon Sinas.
