The Acropolis, Athens

The Acropolis, Athens, Greece photo

SOURCE: Greek National Tourism Organization, used with permission.

Seen from the hill of Philopapou, is the entire rock of the Acropolis, with the Parthenon at the top.

The ancient building with the arches in the foreground left is the Odeion of Herod Atticus, an ancient Roman theater, now used for concerts during the summer.

To its right are the ruins of the ancient Greek theater of Dionysus. In the background right is Mount Lycabettus, a tall hill rising in the middle of the city, with the Church of Saint George visible at its summit. The panoramic views of the city from there are breathtaking.
