Distance sign at Kangerlussuaq (Sondrestrom) airport.

Kangerlussuaq (also known as Sondrestrom), a settlement in the Qeqqata municipality of western Greenland, is located at the head of Søndre Strømfjord fjord.

It is the site of Greenland's largest commercial airport, which dates from the American settlement during and after World War II, when the site was known as Bluie West-8 and Sondrestrom Air Base.
