Katsuren castle ruins, Okinawa, Japan photo
Katsuren castle ruins, Okinawa

The ruins of Katsuren Castle Ruins are located in Haebaru at the base of the Katsuren peninsula, which juts out into the Pacific, in Okinawa.

With the Pacific Ocean on two sides, it is also called the "Ocean Gusuku".

Precious tile and Chinese porcelain of the era have been excavated from Katsuren, hinting at the magnificence of the ancient structure and developed trade.
