The actual name of the area known to most people as Akihabara is Soto-Kanda, a part of Chiyoda-ku, one of the special wards of Tokyo. Its train station, part of a recent redevelopment project, can be reached by train from Tokyo Station in five minutes. Also known as Electric Town, Akihabara is famous for its many electronics shops and as a center of the gaming, manga and animation culture of Tokyo.
