Aurora Borealis (northern lights), Svolvaer, Lofoten Nordland, Northern Norway

Svolvaer, in Lofoten on the south coast of Austvagoy, facing the open sea to the south, and with mountains immediately to the north, is the administrative centre of Vagan Municipality in Nordland County

With the atmosphere of a harbour, a small town and art colony, it is also a bustling trading and communications centre with ferry, sea and air connections to the rest of the country.

Mount Svolvaergeita, "the Svolvaer Goat", is the town's most characteristic feature, and a challenge to climbers.
