Lioness in game drive, Phinda-Mkuze, Kwazulu-Natal province

Phinda Resource Reserve is a 170 square kilometer private game reserve situated in KwaZulu-Natal, between the Mkuze Game Reserve and the Greater St. Lucia Wetland Park.

Phinda has seven distinct ecosystems with palm savannah and mountain bush to rare sand forest and dense thornveld.

Mkhuze Game Reserve (also spelt Mkuze), a 360-square-kilometre game reserve was proclaimed a protected area on 15 February 1912, and it includes acacia savannah, mixed woodland, sand forest, riverine forest, rivers and pans, grassland, cliffs and rocky ridges.
