Bird's eye view of Taipei 101 skyscraper, Taipei
Taipei 101, a landmark skyscraper in the Xinyi District of Taipeibecame the world's tallest building upon its completion in 2004.
It was overtaken in height by the Burj Dubai skyscraper in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, in 2007.
Taipei 101 has 101 floors above ground and five floors underground, and it was designed to withstand typhoons and earthquakes. A multi-level shopping mall with retail stores, restaurants and clubs is adjacent to the tower.
