Presidential Office Builging, Taipei

Located in the Zhongzheng District in Taipei, the Presidential Office Building houses the Office of the President of the Republic of China.

Built during Japanese colonial rule as the Governonr-General's headquarters, and completed in 1919, the building's design has aspects that are typical of Japanese architects in Taiwan's colonial period, which include a facade facing east, and a creative blend of traditional European elements.

Heavily damaged from allied bombing during the Second World War, it was restored with private funds, and opened again in 1947.
