    Map of Five Power Defense Arrangements (FPDA) Member States The Five Power Defense Arrangements (FPDA) is a political arrangement established in 1971, originally to provide for the air defence of peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, following the British withdrawal of military forces 'east of Suez'.

    The defense ministers of the five countries meet every three years, and their meeting in 2011 commemorated the 40th anniversary of the arrangement.
